Chat

Chat is the easiest way to express one’s feelings and thinking. However, it was emphasized that there should be a goal or a possible task that is included. There are some guidelines to keep the students on track. Chat can be in “mystery guest” where students will interview a famous person and they have to ask questions to guess who it is. It engages students to stay alert. This can be related to interview an expert. “Chat room quiz”, students are asked to write general knowledge questions to quiz each other. This strategy develops the skill in the art of questioning which is actually neglected in the learning instruction. And lastly, “trivia quiz”, the teacher can be the quiz master, ask questions and award points to the student who gets the answer first. It can be token, stickers, extra credit or praise.
Fabulous!

A River of Images

As a Kindergarten teacher, this tool is appropriate especially in building backgrounds. To help them understand the meaning of the word, pictures can be used. This is to make connections. I love the way it was stated, “Have children scroll down to identify the pictures or images.” I suggest the pictures should be labeled and very specific with what it portrays to avoid confusion. I can employ this method for small group instruction or center rotation. For my students, a help or aid is needed to monitor them. Images can be suited to word association, brainstorming vocabulary, rapid sentences, memory game and sequencing.
Amazing!

Speech Movies for EFL

It is entertaining and creative. A student who is well versed in animation can impart his creativity. Teacher and students collaboratively make the scenes in the story which includes the beginning, middle, and end. Making predictions are encouraged after showing the students real films or a TV series, then have them see how much of these they can recreate. It is a way for the students to focus to get them ready to write and evaluate the program. It is awesome!

Games are incredible

Games are fun way to transmit information. Since young boys and girls love to play video games, I am convinced that in order to learn and understand the concept better, it is enhanced to employ games. However, as an educator, we need to be selective as to what games the students are to be exposed with. Games should cater to their needs and concepts being taught. The wordmaster is a nice game to reinforce vocabulary words. It gives the student which word fits the missing word from the word bank or from clues given. It is not frustrating on the part of the learner. Although, it is challenging as the game progressed to the next round. Unlocking the meaning of the word is very important.
Games have a lot to teach us about creating effective learning. One must use the rules prescribed. The student is given the ability to judge and choose the best answer. Modifications are made to fit the needs of the learner. This is incredible and inviting to all!!!!

Access to computer

In our school, I use the computer with the students everyday. To reinforce the concept learned, I use Safari Montage, United Streaming, Kidspiration and Study Island.
I have 5 computers in my Computer Center. Students have an access independently 3 times a week. Students use Think Central and Study Island to improve thier Reading and comprehension ability. Softschools.com in Math and Reading as well.
It is actually my firsttime to use bologspot.com. I am very excited to try it. It will be a great help.
